Obituary for Joseph Crittendon
Joseph Anderson (Joe) Crittendon quietly transitioned from labor to reward at his residence, 9114 Lew Jones Road, Rawlings, Va., early morning May 9, 2016. He was born March 12, 1953 to the late Randolph and Betty A. Crittendon. Two Siblings preceded him in death a sister Shirley Hawkins and a brother Thomas (Tommy) Crittendon. Joseph accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Dinwiddie. He attended Dinwiddie County Public Schools. Upon graduation he became a construction worker, he also worked at other places, Keller Aluminum Furniture, Phillip Morris, USA as a forklift operator and DTH/TME as a Weekend Supervisor at the I-85 and Bracey rest areas. During his work tenure he received numerous certificates of performance for jobs well done. He retired from the Southside Virginia Training Center, Housekeeping Services. Joseph enjoyed his life, a man of quiet spirit he was always willing to lend a hand to serve those in need, his favorite past times were fishing and watching his westerns on TV and he took great pride in making his garden grow. Joseph’s greatest source of joy was his love for his family. Joseph married the love of his life Jeanette Parham Rawlings. Married 34 years their union presented them with a son and a daughter whom he adopted. His memories are being held with love by his devoted wife Jeanette P Crittendon, his son Joseph P. Crittendon of Pittsburg, PA. A daughter Shonda Y. Henderson(Jamar Jones)of Dinwiddie, Va three grandchildren, devoted grandchild Shay Rod J. Rawlings of the home, Shekira Rawlings, and Oliver Henderson Jr.; three sisters Carolyn A. Smith (Harry), Bonnie T. F. Powell (Kenneth) and Sylvia Y. Lockley; one brother Walter Crittendon; A Sister in-law Ruth Crittendon; two brothers in-law, William Hawkins and Charles Parham and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins all lovingly remembered.
