Obituary for Betty A. Streat
Ms. Betty Ann Streat, 82 of 2970 Forest Hill Road, Petersburg, VA transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on June 12, 2022.
Betty was born on June 26, 1939 to Rufus and Maggie Phillips.
She was an avid reader and a wiz at word search puzzles. One of her favorite pastime activities was watching Gun Smoke, and her favorite food was Fried Fish. Betty looked forward to her “so-called” surprise Birthday Celebration each year because it was her time to shine. It did not matter what was on the menu, as long as there were “Fried Fish.”
Betty met and married William Streat, Sr. and to that union came 8 children.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life – her husband, her father and mother, a daughter, her twin sister, and four brothers.
Betty leaves to cherish her memories: Doris Smith (Curtis), William Streat, Jr. (Sheila), Evelyn Tomes (David), Roney Streat (Cynthia), Laurie Harper (Isreal), James Streat (Sophia), Anita Stith (Edward), 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grands, and one Great-Great Grand; 2 sisters, Rosa Hall and Alice Crowder; 2 Sisters-in-love, Mary Sue and Barbara Jean Phillips; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. One devoted friend, Catherine Gilliam.
