Obituary for Bonita Fitzgerald Campbell
Bonita departed for her heavenly home on March 14, 2021. She is predeceased by father and mother, Benjamin and Ruth Fitzgerald of McKenney, Virginia and sister Brenda Vinson. Bonita graduated from Dinwiddie High School in 1971 where she served as Vice-President of the senior class. Bonita then graduated from Virginia State University. She initially pursued several business opportunities; having discovered an entrepreneurial spirit which carried over throughout her life. Bonita retired from the State Department of Corrections as a senior probation officer after which she worked as a certified Substance Abuse Counselor with New Seasons Treatment Center.
Bonita arose each day giving glory to God and each day lived her life as a reflection of his love. Bonita was a very warm, caring and giving person who who always showed that “love” is an action word. She was soft spoken with a lovely smile and calming presence but knew how to make her point and if necessary, assertively. Bonita had been a faithful and diligent member of Faith and Family Church since 2012; Reverend Calvin Duncan, Pastor; Mrs. Barbara Duncan, First Lady. Church ministry was central to her Bonita’s life. She was a powerful prayer warrior who never hesitated to minister to someone in need; through prayer, counseling, encouraging word, a card, helping hand or token of love. The children in the church nursery were blessed to have Bonita serve them during the earlier spiritual development.
Bonita leaves to cherish and honor her memory; her husband, John Wayne Campbell; dearly loved children through marriage; Warren(Sheena) Campbell; Wayne Campbell, John Wayne Campbell,
Archer Campbell 11, Stacey Campbell Williams(Quest); grandchildren, Jeremiah, Samara, Maliyah, Joy, John Wayne Jr, Ari, Nava, Quest Jr. and Quincy; niece, Brenda Vinson; nephews, Kendrick and Darius Vinson; great niece, Zoe, as well as extended family including beloved cousins and friends.
