Obituary for Rosa Richardson
Rosa Carnelia Rogers Richardson age 96, effectionately known as “Momma”, “Rosa”, “Naye Naye”and “Granny” of 15621 Keelers Mill Road, Dewitt, Va entered into eternal rest peacefully on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at John Randolph Medical Center, Hopewell, Virginia at 3:09p.m. Rosa was born to the late Theodore and Gertrude Lambert Rogers of Lunenburg County. She was the fifth of eight siblings of whom six had preceded her in death; James Rogers, John(Jack) Rogers, Alma Harper, Annie B. Robinson, Irving Lambert and Leroy Lambert. She also was preceded by her oldest son Melvin G. Lambert and her husband of 33yrs Joseph “Pete” Richardson. Rosa leaves to Cherish precious memories three daughters Victory L. Robinson(Allison) and Jackie R. Hawkes(Thurman) of McKenney, VA. and Hattie M. Lambert of Petersburg, VA. Four sons Robert I. Lambert(Gloridine) of Dewitt, VA., Joseph C. Richardson(Shirley) of Sutherland, VA, Wayne A. Richardson, Sr.(Kimberly) of Dinwiddie, VA and Algie L. Richardson of Petersburg, VA. One sister Mattie Rogers of Stafford, VA. Two sister in-laws Annie B. Rogers of North Dinwiddie, VA. And Florence Lambert of Kenbridge, VA. Eight grandchildren Wesley Lambert, Michelle Lambert, Terrell Lambert, Jacquetta Hawkes, Lamar Smith, Sherika Allen, Wayne Richardson, Jr. and Leah Richardson. Ten great grandchildren and Two great- great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews and neighborhood friends and children. Her favorite bible verse was Psalm 23 and her favorite song was “May the Work I’ve done Speak For Me. She was a faithful member of the Usher’s Ministry for over 50 years, the Pastor’s Aide Ministry, Missionary Ministry and wherever her talents were needed. She joined the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Clarence A. Greenhill. She attended church faithfully until her health began to decline in 2014. She was a Domestic Housekeeper for 25 years for the T.T. Lee family on Keelers Mill Road and custodial work for Dinwiddie High School under the principalship of Ivan Butterworth in 1954. She also worked for Merle Elder and for others in Richmond, Va. She was and avide gardener whether it was in her flower gardens or with her brother Jack out in the tobacco fields. She was an excellent baker making all kinds of pies and cakes, as well as canning and preserving fruits and vegetables. She also had other hobbies as well her word search puzzles, and we certainly don’t want to leave out the most cherished of her jobs of babysitting her grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her neighborhood children as well. She was a client of the Adult Healthcare Solutions in Petersburg, Va. Her most recent care givers Catherine Mahan, Bernice Tucker and Alice Bolling and numerous others over the years whom were appreciated. Her faithful prayer partners Sister Ella Jones and Rev, Australia Bolling. She had a wonderful team of doctors at John Randolph Medical Center just to name a few, Dr. Olumuyiwa Ojediran, Dr. Sandy Gibson, Dr. Srikanth Mahavadi, Dr. Basker, Dr. Rao, Dr. Zahid Mughal, Dr. Morris and others to numerous to mention but very much appreciated. A number of wonderful nurses Peggy, Lorraine, Maura, Amber, Laura, Sylvia and a host of others. She loved them all and they loved and took great care of her.
