Obituary for Robert Jones

Robert M. Jones, “fishing hook” of Emporia, VA entered into eternal rest on October 11, 2014 at Emporia Manor in Emporia.
Robert was born on August 11, 1943 to the late Allen Jones and Annie Bates Jones. He was a native of Dinwiddie County. He came to know and love Christ at an early age and fellowshipped faithfully at the Rocky Mount Baptist Church Mckenney, VA He worked on the farm for many years and also worked for the state until he became sick.
While at Rocky Mount Robert worked faithfully in the Men’s Ministry and Usher Board and also helped with whatever needed to be done in any other ministry.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Lee Jones, four brothers and six sisters.
Left to cherish his memory are his son Robert Allen Jones; one step son Ivey Lewis Jones; two sisters, Barbara Phillips of Stony Creek, VA and Geneva Ampey of Jarratt, VA; one brother, James Jones of Emporia; two grandsons; ten step grandsons; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends including devoted nieces Sarah Jones, Betty Hardy, and Minister Lucy Pulliam and devoted friend Carolyn Hall whom he called Mama.
Funeral services will be held on Friday October 17, 2014 at 1PM from the Rocky Mount Baptist Church Mckenney, VA. Rev. Carlos Jordan will officiate with internment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the W. L. Fields Funeral Home from 7PM to 8PM.
