Obituary for Rasheedah K Jones
Rasheedah “Mema” Jones, who was called “Sister”, gained her wings on Sunday October 24, 2021, at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg VA.
“Sister” was a true jack of ALL trades, she enjoyed being around family/friends, and was well-known for her talented sewing abilities and cooking! She previously worked as a personal care aid before her untimely illness.
Rasheedah accepted Christ at an early age. In life she chose to walk her faith journey with the Rocky Mount Baptist Church family, where she received her spiritual blessings.
She loved her family deeply. When she wasn’t having fun with her family, she loved playing bingo, traveling with her friend Jean, and looking at Western’s.
Rasheedah is proceeded in death by her parents, Thomas and Lucy Branch, a son Wilbur T. Branch, and two brothers John “chicken” and Thomas “green man”.
Left to cherish her memory, her five loving children, Kenya Parker, Taji Parker, Aqueelah Rose (Donell), Jalal Parker, and Jameel Parker, sister Annie B. Branch ”Poolie”; Niece/Nephew Celestine “Tina” and Carlos “Buck”, brother, Raider Branch “Skate” (Darlene); and Aunt Barbara Phillips.
“Mema” as affectionately known, was beloved by twenty grandchildren-Jessica, Andre, Taji Jr., Darius, Qua’vien, Jalal Jr., Ayanna, Ka’Shantia, Tajira, Tajirah, Nazr, Ariyanna, Tajion, Tiaja, Jalalvion, Taylin, and Jah’Ques “Tu Mu” and one truly special and devoted grand daughter and Grandson : Zaneshea Parker, and Karim Parker; and seven great-grandchildren: Zarrien, Ameer, Ameerah, Qua’Mir, Dejuan, Zova, and Khodi
Also, a devoted friend Clarence Carter “Von”, a host of nieces: Angie, Flossie. Mahala, Beverly, April, Shameta, Latonya, Monique, and Latosha; nephews: Chris, Robin, Pluck, Duke, and Corey; A host of cousins/friends and her true lifelong friends who have been there through all her lifelong journeys: Hattie, Zakiyyah Muhammad, Mary Gholson, and Jean Cofer.
