Oscar Winfield Epps Jr., 69, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on July 28, 2015.
He was a 1964 graduate of Southside High School, Dinwiddie, and attended Central State University in Ohio before entering the military, serving first in the Army in, Binh-Thuy ,Vietnam and in Germany. He later served in the Air Force Reserve at the Kincheloe Air Force Base in Michigan. He learned the art of cooking for large groups in the military and subsequently worked as a cook for large tourist corporations in Miami Beach, Florida and several tourist sites in North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Lockett Epps, his father, Oscar Winfield Epps, Sr., and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
. He is survived by his step-mother, Sylvia Taylor Epps, and sister, Cheryl Anthony Epps of the family home in McKenney, Virginia.
Funeral services will be held on August 4, 2015 at 2:00PM at the First Baptist Church Mckenney. Rev. Alvin Gurley pastor, will officiate and the eulogy will be delivered by Rev Winston Bland , Oscar’s childhood friend. Viewing for Mr. Epps will be held at the W. L. Fields Funeral Home on Monday from 10AM to 8PM and a visitation will be held from 6PM-8PM. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to First Baptist Church Mckenney.
