Obituary for Mary F. Jackson
Mary Francis Jackson of 2847 Rawlings Road, Rawlings, Virginia was called from labor to reward on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at VCU Health, Richmond, Virginia. She was born April 22, 1943 to the late William “Billy” Winfield and Sadie Gilliam Winfield. Mary was educated in Dinwiddie County Public Schools. She was employed with Keller Aluminum Factory, Rollic Sewing Factory, Aleen Sewing Factory and The Comfort Group and later in later years worked as a caretaker for many. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws Andrew W. Jackson, Sr. (Celia Mae), three brothers, Isham Winfield (Annie), Clarence Winfield, Charlie “Mack” Winfield, Sr. and five sisters, Julie Ann Winfield, Maxine Winfield Johnson Rhodes (Albert), Genevia Winfield Perrear, Virginia Winfield Lewis (Herbert) and Bernice Winfield Brown (Charles), James Brackett, Sr., William Thomas Jackson (Joan), Irving Jackson (Rosetta), Margaret Brinkley (Sam) and Helena Jackson. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at Mount Poole Baptist Church, Ford, Virginia. Mary moved her membership to Hickory Run Baptist Church in Rawlings, Virgina and subsequently to Lovely Zion Baptist Church also in Rawlings, Virginia where she was a dedicated and faithful member until her death. A woman of faith, who was known for saying “What God has for you is for you” or "My God will fix it after a while”. If you knew her you knew she loved singing. Mary was a member of the Lovely Zion Baptist Church Senior Choir and Women’s Choir where she enjoyed singing songs of praise. Mary loved working in her flowers, cooking, talking to family and friends on the phone, sewing and caring for others. She loved her family dearly and would always put their needs before hers, a mother, auntie, friend and caregiver to many. She leaves to cherish and is survived by her husband of 61 years Andrew W. Jackson, Jr.; Patricia Harris (Henry); Herbert and Bruce Winfield, Marvin Brown; Three sisters-in-law, Bertha Brackett, Mildred Winfield and Gertrude Winfield; One brother-in-law John D. Jackson; step-grandchildren, Courtney and Olivia Harris, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A special thanks and recognition to Josephine Campbell and Joyce Skinner, numerous family members and friends for all of the love, devotion and sacrifice during our time of need. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday, May 2, 2022 at Lovely Zion Baptist Church, 28 Lovely Zion Rd., Rawlings, Virginia 23876, Virginia with the pastor Rev. James E. Geter Sr., officiating. Burial will be in the Brackett Family cemetery. We are asking for all who are attending to assemble at the Church on the day of the service.
