Obituary for Marie Lundy
Marie Hill Lundy 102, departed this earthly life to rest with God on August 22, 2014. She peacefully transitioned at her residence of 3517 Griffin Avenue, Richmond, VA; the battle has been fought the Victory has been won she has now received her crown. Marie was born April 27, 1912 in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Emanuel and Alice Davis. She attained her formal education in Providence, married and raised her family there. At the appointed time she moved to New York City where she worked for 43 years at the Lenox Hill Hospital receiving the employee of the month award in October of 1983 and she continued to give exceptional service until her retirement in 2001. Another Career accomplishment that she was proud of was her tenure as a delegate for the number 1199 Health Care Workers Union. It was during her time in New York that she met and married the late Roosevelt Lundy in 1965 and following his death she moved to Richmond, VA in 2010 where she lived a happy life with her family and friends that she loved so much. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 11:00a.m. from the First Baptist Church in McKenney. The Reverend Alvin J. Gurley will be Eulogizing. Internment will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing will be on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the hour of 2:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The W.L. Fields Funeral Home.
