Lincoln H. Peterson “Linc”, 82 of 20412 Manson Church Rd, Mckenney, VA quietly and peacefully departed this life on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond.
Linc was born to the late George H and Julia E Greenhill Peterson on July 7, 1932 in Nottaway County, VA. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Big Bethel Baptist Church where he attended until his mother passed. Lincoln was known for his unique sense of humor and sharp tongue. He had a love for the outdoors, sitting on the porch or in the yard waving his hand at every car that passed, regardless if he knew them or not. Linc loved to hunt but would let every deer run right pass him. That was his way of hunting. He called himself “The German Lion” or “Wild Bill” and he will surely be missed.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert “Bobby” & Deacon James Peterson, an adopted brother Joe Greenhill, and a nephew , Reginald Peterson.
Left to cherish his memories are 4 sisters-in-law, devoted sister-in-law Bettie Peterson , Minnie Howell, Hattie Alston (Wilson), Jessie Moore; devoted nieces and nephews Shelly Curtis, Latonya Peterson, Greg Peterson, Andre Curtis, Dre’ Curtis; an adopted niece and caregiver Michelle Johnson , and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that were dear to him. Extended friends include Mary Alsbrooks, Wanda Short, Mildred and Ashton Coleman, and Sue and willie Marks.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 19, 2015 at 1PM from the Big Bethel Baptist Church, Mckenney. Rev. Alexander Williams, pastor, will officiate with Rev. Thomas Wynn giving the eulogy. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be at the W. L. Fields Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10AM to 8PM.
