Obituary for James E. Malone
James Edward Malone, affectionately know as “Bubba” , of Blackstone, VA (formerly of McKenney) was born on January 11, 1932 in Dinwiddie County to the late Valton Gustavius Malone and Clara Octavia Johnson Malone. James passed suddenly on Saturday February 15, 2020 at his residence in Blackstone.
James was baptized at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church in Dinwiddie County and was a member of the senior choir for many years.
James graduated from Dinwiddie Training School in 1948. He joined the military in 1952 and was stationed in Japan. He was discharged in 1954.
He was preceded in death by his parents Valton and Clara Malone and a sister Blanch Elizabeth Malone and a sister-in-law Ollie Woodley.
James was employed with the U.S. Government for 30 years as a civil service employee at Fort Lee, VA. He was married to the late Eliza Woodley and to this union they were blessed with one daughter, Wanda Malone Smith.
James leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Wanda Malone Smith of Henrico; one granddaughter, Kaylan Alyse Smith of Henrico; one sister Delois C. Malone of Blackstone, VA; brother-in-law Moses Woodley of Mannboro; nephew Marcus Woodley of Richmond; several cousins George Cooper, Carnelius Cooper, Helen Brown, and Dorothy Hall of Baltimore, MD, Rev. Jesse Stevens and Rev. Dr. Alice Stephens (Edward) of Maryland, Yolanda Stevens and Deborah Gore of Washington, DC. . .
