Obituary for Charles Brown
Charles Edward Brown, 79, of Lew Jones Road, Rawlings, VA transitioned into eternal rest on February 6, 2015 in the Community Memorial health Center in South Hill, VA. Charles was born to the late Richard Buford and Mattie Celinda Brown on June 25, 1935. He received his education in the Brunswick County school system. At an early age Charles was baptized and joined the Hickory Run Baptist Church and later joined the Mass Choir and the Men’s choir. He met Bernice Winfield and they were joined in holy matrimony on December 31, 1960 and to this union they had one son, Marvin. Charles had several employers including Shoosmith, Bishop & Settle, Keller Aluminum and Robert L Taylor & Company. Charles was preceded in death by his siblings, Rosetta Brown, Thomas Brown, Maria B. Fields, Virginia Jones, Lucy B. Rhodes, and Herbert Lewis. Remembering his life and love are a devoted wife of 54 years, Bernice Brown of Rawlings; one son, Marvin G. Brown (Michelle) of Petersburg, VA; two grandchildren, Tamal and Shanell Brown of Petersburg, VA; one sister, Nancy Bishop of Newport News, VA; one brother, George Lee Brown of South Bend, IN; two sisters-in-law, Doris Brown of South Bend, IN, Mary W. Jackson (Andrew) of Rawlings, VA; one brother-in-law, Charlie M. Winfield (Mildred) of McKenney, VA; three devoted nieces, Bessie Brown of Richmond, VA, Mattie Brown of Dundas, VA, and Mary B. Morgan of McKenney, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special friends are Harold “Chank” Harris, Bubby Watkins and William “Pete” Thrower. The family would like to thank the many caregivers (Diane Fields, 7 years) for making our loved one’s long good bye more comfortable. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday February 11, 2015 at 2PM from the Hickory Run Baptist Church, Rawlings VA. Rev Elmus Morgan will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewing will be at the W. L. Fields Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10AM to 8PM. Services are under the direction of the W. L. Fields Funeral Home, 10814 Doyle Blvd, Mckenney, VA. (804) 478-4811.
