Staff Sargent Bernard Anthony Oliver Evans Sr (Ben) transitioned on April 15th, 2023 at Centra Health Hospital, Lynchburg, VA.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather: Glouster (Buck) Malone; Grandmother: Pricilla. Maranda Malone; Mother: Deaconess Emma L. Evans; Father: Trustee Lloyd H. Evans Sr.; Stepmom: Gracie P. Evans; Sister: Sylvia E. Gilliam; Brother: Stephon D. Evans; Niece: Keosha Coleman, and numerous other family members
Bernard Anthony Oliver Evans Sr. was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church Dinwiddie in 1976. He graduated from Dinwiddie County High School in 1982. He was active in Dinwiddie County High School Choir (All State under direction of Shirley Townsend), he loved playing sports.
Bernard Anthony Oliver Evans Sr. enlisted in the United States Army in in 1983, He served as a Chef, played football, basketball, and baseball. He received many awards, trainings, certificates, and achievements. Bernard Anthony Oliver Evans Sr. received an Honorable Discharge on 05/16/1991.
Ben worked as a Developmental Aide for physically and mentally challenged individuals at Central Virginia Training Center (Lynchburg , VA); Ben assembled fenders, hoods and bumper boxes for General Motors: (Flint Michigan). Other jobs: material handler, forklift operator, transported palletized materials and unloaded trucks, warehouseman, record keeper, storage clerk, pulled orders for shipping and receiving,
