Alvin Leron Jones , 65, of Petersburg, VA passed away peacefully on March 10, 2024 at VCU Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Alvin was originally from Dinwiddie County and was a beloved son, father and friend. He was born on May 11, 1958 in Dinwiddie County to Melvin F. Jones and Lola R Jones.
Alvin was proceeded in death by his brother Glenn W Jones. Alvin was educated at Dinwiddie County Public Schools and graduated high school with the class of 1977. In 1978 Alvin joined the military. He continued his military status with Bellwood. Alvin later furthered, his education obtaining his HVAC electrician, plumbing, and refrigeration certificate with John Tyler Community College. He worked at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital for 16 years. Alvin was a jack of all trades, ranging from mechanic work, carpentry, gardening, fishing, and hunting. He was a Hall of Famer in high school, playing baseball and football. He later played for the Mason Town Expos.
Alvin leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted daughter, Nicole L. Jones; parents, Melvin F. Jones Sr. and Lola Jones; one brother Melvin Jones Jr. (Ruby); two sisters Philistine Jones Whitaker and Carolyn D. Jones; nieces Charlene and LaShanda; four nephews Chris, Javars, Quinton Daquan; one great-niece, one great-nephew, two uncles, and three aunts and a host of cousins and friends.
Alvin was known for his unwavering kindness, infectious laughter and gentle spirit. He touched the lives of many with his generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand. He was passionate about gardening and enjoyed feeding others while spending time with family. Alvin knew the Lord and shared a relationship with God.
Alvin leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and strength. While he will be deeply missed his memory will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him
