Obituary for Joseph E. Lewis
Mr. Joseph E. Lewis was one of 8 children born to the late Richard and Sara Walton Lewis. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Branch Lewis, a son, Michael Lewis, brothers Garland and George Lewis, sisters Sara O’Neal, Augusta Andrews, Frances Barber, & Essie Owens.
He received his education in Sussex County VA and he retired from Allied Chemicals. Left to cherish his memory are: two sons, Larry Lewis of the home and Ralph Shands (Mary) of Kinston, NC. His brother, Jasper Lewis of Jarrett, Virginia; Devoted god-daughter, Thomasine Taylor (Clinton); Daughter-in law Phyllis Lewis all of Petersburg VA; Sisters in law: Alee McFarland of Newark, New Jersey, Annie M. Peel of Chesapeake, Virginia, Lucy L. Baker (Henry) of Suffolk, Virginia, Lottie Branch of Stony Creek, VA, Mozell Jefferson of Virginia; Four grandchildren: LaQuisha and Imani Lewis, Clifton Shands (Angie) all of Petersburg, Va.; Stephen Shands (Ashley) and Valerie Miller of Durham, NC; nine great grandchildren; nieces: Sharon Crawford, Daisy McCombs, Ernestine Lewis, Vyvene Phillips; devoted nephew: Horace McFarland of the home; nephew: Alvin Lewis, Sr., and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends along with the Blandford Community Family.
